Hometown Street Photography
I live in Pieta, and hence this is the town where I carried my street photography assignment.
While shooting, I tried to keep in mind photography elements and at the same time capturing people randomly which was not an easy task.
This is a photo of people crossing the road, this is a very busy main road in Pieta'.I noticed that although this is an everyday 'task'people cross the road in different ways, some people look to check if the cars stopped even though they have the green light while other cross the road without looking anywhere at all. While taking this photo I tried to get the persons crossing the road on the lower thirds following the rule of thirds.
This is another photo I took, simply because I thought this elderly woman was cute and carrying a cloth bag instead of a plastic bag with her while shopping. My aim when I first went out to shoot was to focus on trash, so I took this photo to show different ways how trash accumulates and ways to decrease it. This photo is not very aesthetically pleasing as in the background the wall is very dirty and there is a garbage bag, however, I tried to include walking space in front of her and placed her on the vertical third of the photo. As I was on my way to Junior college I took a couple of photos of people walking by or just people who were there.
This is a photo I took of a woman smocking a cigarette and using her mobile when was so busy, she didn't even realise I was taking this photo, parts of this image are slightly overexposed because of the sun, another photo I took on my way is this one In this photo, the persons taking the coffee are not talking to each other but instead, they are using their mobile. Before I took this photo one of the man was looking at me because of the camera, and I felt uncomfortable walking in closer, so a lot of obstacles are in the photo. These 2 photos made me realise that those of older age seamed to be more 'focused'by that I mean they seemed to be doing something. In the first picture the woman stopped to talk to the salesperson in the shop after walking her dog and in the second photo, the man was cleaning his boat.
This made me confirm something, about our society which was clear, at least in my hometown, we are becoming an alienated society.
This is another photo of a young adult who was so busy using his mobile, that he didn't realise I was taking a photo. I tried to get he man on the thirds while showing some trees, however, this photo is underexposed.
This is another photo I took of 2 persons fishing, they were both of middle age, while another man was covering himself with a piece of cloth blanket because his summer clothes were torn.
2 Photos were I tried the linear principle, again in the last photo, 2 middle-aged men seamed to be doing some physical activity.
Overall I decided that my theme will be Alienating Society.
